The Movie "Mask" starring Cher has a scene that actually does this, very good. Why not watch it and see how you like the descriptions.

I think if you described the 'colors' liken to 'feelings', and emotional sensations, the person could perhaps, get a better idea. As, Neptune, described, every person is unique and different. Not, all blind people are blind from birth, not all have 100% sight loss, etc. But, in the case of someone who does, as I had mentioned, if you could describe emotional sensations being similar to a color...Like anger and hot similar to red. Happy and sunny similar to yellow. A rainy and cold day similar to grey and black, etc...

With feeling. Ice-cold, blue. Pink, soft cashmere, a hot tub, black or burgandy. Things like that. My father was blind, but it was due to an accident and he had his sight before, so he experienced color, but that is what was used in his class for the blind.

My niece is blind from birth and she dreams of black birds and so on, it was explained to her mother that since the parents are sighted and have do see things and have seen things before her birth that she may recollect due to the genes passed on to her. She is only 10 and amazes us all the time, she really is a gift from God humbling us with her unique perspective and love for everyone.

My father is blind. Yellow is like the sun a warm color. Blue is like the water, cool and refreshing. Red is like flame, hot. Ect. He can picture it like that if you understand. Plaid is confusing though. He says that just feels rough.

I'm pretty sure they can distinguish if it's light in colour or dark in colour though. In situations like the court of law, that would be useless though.

I would try through different tastes. I would have them taste a sweet plum and maybe say that was purple. Awww, you get the drift don't you?
