The most direct way to measure the volume (in cubic feet) of a space is to count the number of 1 foot by 1 foot by 1 foot cubes that will stack in the space. There are also various formulas that can be used for specific shapes. A sphere, for instance has a volume of 4/3 pi R^3.

The answer really depends on what type of object you are measuring.

If you want to know how many cubic feet are contained in a rectangular solid, just multiply its length by width by height.

For example if you have a 3ft by 4ft by 5ft box, it holds 3x4x5=60 cubic feet.

For other shapes, the process is more complicated.

Cubic feet is a measure of volume. It depends what shape are you looking up for its volume. Simple shapes have simple formula.

Complicated shapes are more difficult to calculate but you can always do the EUREKA thing.

1. Convert all measurements to feet
2. Multiply width times height times depth.

;-D If you are dealing with spheres or pyramids, it is more complicated.
