All you people that say Jeter needs to be in a small market, how do you think Ortiz would do in KC, nobody would do good in KC. Put Jeter on the Twins and they are in first place. What is so over rated about him? Does a player have to hit 30 to 40 home runs a year to be good and valuable to his team? Seriously you think Jeter gives a **** about what you think of him, all he cares about is winning and he has 4 rings including a World Series MVP. I don't see what is so overrated about a World Series MVP, and two gold gloves. If he was so overrated why is he a high candidate in the MVP race. Obviously sports writers know what he brings to the table. Is 100 runs a year consistently overrated? Everyone is so caught up in the long ball, i mean he has 95 rbi with only 14 rbi, Thome only has 101 rbi and has 40 home runs. You dont need to touch all the bases to drive in runs. Any for people who say hes a bad fantasy player, wouldnt you like a short stop with a .340 avg, over 100 runs, around 15 home runs, almost 100 rbi, and around 30 stolen bases? Those numbers dont sound overrated to me.

i read about Jeter today about how he is a star on a team full of superstars and how he is a true leader and a role model for minor league athletes and all this other crap like how he only steals bases at the smartest times. But as a Bisoxual (Red sox/White Sox) Fan I hate his guts and think he is way overated and not a good fantasy baseball player, even though there are a pretty even number of people who hate him and love him.
I agree with the first answer too he does have a strong supporting cast in new york

i am a yankee fan and am a jeter fan thru and thru. jeter is total class act all the way,in 1998 after a double header agianst the angels he autographed his rookie card, draft pick card and high school card for me,, actually for my daughter who was only 2 at the time now i call that class act all the way. all i can say is for u yankee or jeter haters too bad, he is hall of fame material all the way.

jeter overrated? why do you play the game? to win. what does jeter do? win. no player plays harder and has a bigger impact to his team... if any other team lost a starting pitcher like pavano, 2 100 RBI guys in sheffield and matsui, along with a randy johnson whos ageing,a posada who has backspasms and not to mention a-rod who has been god awful this year! he put the team on his back... .340 average, over 100 runs, he'll get over 100 runs scored and he should win a gold glove. hands down MVP and NOT overrated

He is a great player. No matter what team he is on Jeter is a clutch player so he gets alot of respect.

how the hell Jeter is overrated?! he works hard every single day,a key situation hitter(clutch hitter),Mr.November title,world series MVP,4 rings,lots of respect to his fans,but anywayz Derek doesn't care what ya said about him..all he cares is winning the ball game...I LOVE DEREK JETER!!! who else is better than him out there? he's nice to everybody..include that BIG PAPI!! Jeter is very over-rated and needs a wake up call in a smaller market. That whole Yankees squad (except Rivera and Damon) are over-rated.

I dont like him, I'm a Mets fan, I hate the Yankees. But seriously, you gotta give it to him, he's a classy ballplayer. He's a good ballplayer and he's a winner.
I'll still take Jose Reyes any day of the week though.
