How do you fix a broken drawer?

Question

I have a dresser and it is still in good condition except that one of the drawers broke off from the dresser and I can't seem to put it back because the tracks that holds the drawer broke off. Is this something that I can fix on my own or do I have to buy a new dresser?

you don't say if the track is in the middle of the drawer, or if it is on both sides. If it is one in the middle, take it to Lowe's, or home depot and match it as close as possible with a replacement piece, (the new one might be metal or plastic. If it is the side type, and you can't reattach, think of something that you can replace it with, maybe a similar piece of wood, maybe an "L" shaped piece of plastic or metal

This is not the right way to fix it,but if the tracks are still good you can glue them back in. Use Gorilla glue. You will have to dampen the wood,but it should hold. Just wait until it's dry. I would give it 24 hours. Then give it a try.

You can actually purchase a repair piece for the broken track. Go to your home stor, like Lowes or Home Depot and tell them what you are looking for. There are several styles to choose from from metal to wood or even plastic. They come with instructions. Good lucK!

look at the broken piece, are there any wood splinters or pieces? Look for any signs of a broken piece. Get some wood glue and maybe some tape to hold it in place while it dries. Some are held in by screws. put a drop of the glue in the screw hole, it causes it to harden.

If you have the track that broke off you could re-glue it in. If not, use a similar piece of wood.

if the drawer is in good condition, you have to replace jus the drawer channels.
you can measure the channel length and source it from the hardware shop.
