My Mom is taking me to the doctor for my first "girl" doctor visit. I'm scared, worried, nervous, and don't want to go. I'm afraid it will hurt and I don't want him looking at me. I'm not sick. Why do I have to go at all?

Oh I HATED that visit. I went when i was 14. it wasn't bad, I got it over with very quickly. Just request a woman. I had a guy. A young guy. A cute young guy. The last thing I wanted was for him to look at me down there. It didn't hurt, because if they put anything "in" you, which they may not, they'll numb it first, I'm sure. Just relax and take deep breaths. Good luck sweetheart, and I'm sure you'll do just fine.

Is it also because your mom is taking you?
My mom didn't take me, but I'm sure that its part of why you're feeling weird about the appointment.
The exam is slightly embarassing but just go to a happy place in your mind and it really takes 5-10 minutes at the most.
If it helps, maybe a woman doctor would be better. If you have a male doctor, there will be a nurse present so she can hold your hand or tell you whats happening.

It's normal to be scared and worried and nervous. I would suggest to Mom maybe a woman doctor. That might make you feel more comfortable. Take a girlfriend with you. The first time is the hardest. The rest are just hard.
You need to have this done once a year. It can detect diseases early on. They can tell if you have any private issues that need to be dealt with, like birth control, bad cramps during your period, etc.
We might not like it, but we must go. I would not be here today if I hadn't gone. I had cervical cancer and they caught it in time.

wow.. well these are things you really need to talk to your mom about before you go. Deffinately have your mom in the room while you have the exam.. also , Maybe you should ask your mom to find you a FEMALE doctor.. this will make it less awkward! Dont worry , they will try to be gentle with you , I am sure, however I still think you should have a woman doctor and you should have your mom in the room with you .. Good luck

well see if your mom will take you to a female if that will make you feel more better. i was scare the first time that i went. i still get a little nervous till this day. and i am 21 and just had a baby. but good luck

It's normal, completely. Your nervous because a man is going to be sticking and prodding his finger all up in you. Just remember, that he does this thousands of times a year on women just like you and you have nothing he hasn't seen before. Now if he bends you over the table and starts going to town on you, well that's another story. Don't worry about it, really it will be ok. Let him know your nervous, he'll understand completely.

I agree with you, but can only say this.
1. Tell your mother and try to see if she won't insist on taking you.
2. You won't have a choice if she does insist.
3. It shouldn't be all that bad, if you do have to go.

You need to go for a check up and for other reasons you will be ok its just hard the first time.

It doesn't hurt really. It feels REALLY weird though. It is just REALLY uncomfortable.
