Yes it does a good actor should do accents. Reminds me of the time a friend borrowed "Rob Roy" to watch, she said she couldn't understand a word they said because it was scottish. Most of the actors spoke with an american accent. LOL

IF they were vikings, they would not be speaking English with a british accent. So it is done for the ease of the audience to understand.

I would be more concerned about the historical inaccuracies then the accent of the actors.

It does not annoy me to hear a movie in an American accent. A British accent is difficult to understand sometimes. I tried to watch "The Importance of Being Earnest" with Reese Witherspoon and I couldn't understand what they were saying, it was like they were mumbling and I eventually fell asleep. What a waste of a rental!

HAHA
Just like Leo DiCaprio in Man in the Iron Mask...one of my favorite movies, but I thought the accent thing was pretty comical. Like Kevin Costner in Robin Hood, and Justin Chambers(D'Artagnon in The Musketeer.
All good movies, but you can't help but notice the accent doesn't fit the scene.

As long as I can understand what they are saying more important compared to accent they may use. I would be more upset if they intentionally lie about the true events.

Depends on how factual the movie is being portrayed. Saving Private Ryan is an awesome historic movie about WW II, Schindler's List, Tora! Tora!Tora as well. Consumer preference!

lol I think the classic one is Kevin Costner sounding Californian in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Carwl Elwes *yes, spelled wrong..don't hurt me please :)* even said it in Men in Tights: And unlike some Robin Hood's I can speak with an English accent :D

I like that the accents (and everything else, like clothing and whatnot) match the setting/place/ time period, etc... if it doesn't, yea it sucks but oh what can you do........
