So what is wrong with the Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins

Each one of these should be a separate question. Where do we start?

Culpepper keeps throwing interceptions, is slow in his reads, makes poor decisions and takes too many sacks for negative yards (makes first downs pretty hard). He took 7 on Sunday.

Maybe it is because his knee is still injured or maybe he isn't comfortable with the offense yet. Either way it spells disaster for Miami. They will live and die with Culpepper. The only good news is that it is hard to believe he will get worse.

For Carolina. There are many things that can lead to a team performing poorly but ultimately I think not having Steve Smith is a HUGE reason. Delhomme doesn't have his primary target, (on a team that didn't have a lot of viable options to begin with).

Smith doesn't just make an impact in the numbers he posts, but his consistency builds confidence in the QB which also gives rest of the team confidence. Even though Minnesota is not the greatest team in the world, they still took it to OT and had several opportunities to win.

Smith flew to Alabama on yesterday to get a second opinion on his hamstring injury. If he returns this week and even plays a limited roll on Sunday, you may start to see things turn around. If nothing else, he can keep defenses honest.

Apparently, both teams have the same plan. Let everyone else win and get out to a big lead in the divisions. Then, they'll both go on huge winning streaks and make the playoffs.

They are my two favorite teams too, so it's been a rough season so far.
