I'm glad both baby and true mother are okay. I don’t wish to justify what she, the thief, did, only to understand it. I think the kidnapper, a Mrs. Torrez, might have been legally insane. L.A. Times states that she miscarried her 9 month old baby on the same day she committed this crime. I’m sure you have heard many tales of grieving mothers kidnapping young children to fill the void of their loss. I understand her pain, not her actions. Even lowly animals do this. If you have ever seen the film, ‘The March of the Penguins,” you might recall that after a severe blizzard a baby penguin froze to death. The grieving mother cried out for hours until she spotted another baby penguin, which she tried frantically to steel. The death of a child perhaps is the most painful thing a human can go through. I imagine Torrez desperately wanted to nullify her anguish with a new baby. This reminds me of a case study from my psychology class. A teen boy accidentally killed his mother in a rage. When police discovered this two days later they noted that the boy was walking backwards all over the house. It was revealed that the boy thought that by doing this he would bring back his mother. I feel Torrez wanted to relive her pain, by lying to herself, just as the teen did, that nothing had happened to her baby that in fact, the child she stole was hers. She, I believe is still very sick, and needs psychological help.

She knew full well what she was doing. She sliced the real mother's throat and stole the baby. She had been acting pregnant for month's to throw everyone else off, so with a premeditated crime like that, she's not crazy. It took some thought. I say give her life and 24 hours a day, 7 days a week play the sound of a baby crying in her cell!

I think she should be executed. That would stop any wannabes from copying that crap. I don't buy the "I'm mentally ill therefore I'm innocent" crap either. I say if they're that nuts, get rid of 'em--permanently. They are a menace to society. We're too easy on criminals these days, that's why the crime rate is so high. I get tired of wasting my tax dollars to keep this kind of scum alive.

Should place her in the mental hospital for lifetime. Reason being when she got a chance to recover one day, she would suffer and regret and feel guilty for what she has done before. I guess this punishment is better than put her to die immediately as she will not suffer any.

My thoughts are that the Thai government has just been toppled and all we care about is a baby. Not that its not newsworthy, but its the frickin lead on most newsites!
Americans are just too stupid and interested in sensational news like Tom and Katies baby, Brad and Angelinas Baby, the missing girl in Aruba whats her name...? And people wonder why we were attacked 9/11, its because we live in a bubble caring only about the next piece of news that is interesting rather than newsworthy.

Well i think the jails should have space for the mentally challenged in them. So they can be in prison and get the help that they need also. To me it's all the same anyway you locked.

This ***** should die!! The baby's mother could have died, the baby could have died, plus there was also a 1-year-old baby at home with the mother. He could have died when the mother passed out after her throat was slashed!! I hope someone shoots her!!

Hopefully she'll stay in jail where she really belongs. But I'll be happy either way as long as they keep her locked up.
