I am NOT a member of the ACLU, and as such, cannot speak for what their policy may be in defending such suits.

I can, however, speak to the general gist of lawsuits over the 2nd amendment to the Constitution of the US.

The Supreme Court of the US has ruled, time and time again, that the 2nd amendment to the constitution does NOT give a blanket right to every american citizen (or resident) to keep whatever form of firearm they want. Consistently, they have held that the 2nd amendment says what it really says: Congress can't interfere with State's right to form an independent militia if it so chooses. (most states, by the way, have long since given up that right, in response to the money offered by Washington).

I some states, the militia is still defined as "every able bodied male between the ages of 18 and XX" (insert age for XX). Those states also usually have a National Guard as well, which they, of course, get funding for from the US Government.

The point of my discourse: We, as citizens, don't have a constitutional right to own any firearm which isn't a legitimate military weapon, unless we are part of the regular (or in some cases, depending on the state) irregular militia. HOWEVER, before you jump all over me... most states don't take this view.

They look to the political and practical expediency, and generally allow a firearm to anyone who is not a convicted felon, who can prove a need and/or training, etc, depending on the state.

I hope that answers the questions.

Yes, the ACLU has defended the second amendment many,
Many, MANY times.

However, as with most Americans, it has not tried to defend
the concept that every American is entitled to his or her own
atomic bomb - As with most Americans, the ACLU believes
that "arms" has a much narrower definition.

Most of the cases have had to do with people being denied
gun permits etc due to racial profiling, but there are some others
in there too...

If I had the power, I would do away with the ACLU as being a terrorist organization always fighting against the United States and its citizens.. They are opposed to everything that is good for the United States and why the US Government continues to listen to those terrorists is beyond my comprehension

No, I don't believe they have every taken a Second Amendment case. Their primary concern is making sure that children do not hear the word God mentioned in public school.

the ACLU has no interest in freedom or constitutional rights unless of course you are gay, morally challenged or an atheist.

If they havent, Im sure they would be willing to take on more cases if you would do your share and donate some money to them.

Have YOU ever defended someone else's constitutional rights? Or do you not care about freedom and rights?
