If you need 40 hours of community service, I highly recommend volunteering at your church or shelter that sponsors a homeless ministry. You can volunteer anywhere from 1 -5 hours per week and choose any shift or project that you like.
After leading the homeless ministry for 8 years, I found more reward from the service than the guests did.

I suggest you volunteer at a hospital. Some hospitals require 4-8 hours a week for volunteering. so 40 hours would take you 5-10 weeks to complete depending how long you volunteer for per week.

You can go to a school, retirement center any where really all you have to do is call a company or volunteer place and ask if you could do some volunteer work.

Sometimes your own school has clubs and divisions that need volunteers to keep it running. Try to volunteer in a place that holds your interest. Animals, try an animal shelter or rescue site. Children, a classroom, church, or shelter day care.....
Good luck!

Go to your guidance counselor. She probably has a list of schools needing student teachers. If not, she'll tell you how to contact schools.
I assume you're going for a teaching degree.
