It really depends on how formal your homecoming dance is.

If it is semi-formal, I would go with a cocktail dress. Not too over the top, but not too simple. Something that hits at about the knee and is strapless, sleeveless, spaggetti strap or a halter top is good for this time of year. Do a color that you like and that compliments your skin tone.
Something like these two:

If your dance is formal, go for a below or at the knee dress with a any kind of strap or top other than long sleeved or 3/4 sleeved. Again, choose a color that you like and looks good on you.

Something maybe like these:

If your homecoming is informal, you could probably get away with a nice skirt and cute blouse. But if you still want to wear a dress, look for a nice sundress that isn't too summery.

Something like these:

(If these are too short, but you want to wear one of them, just throw on some black tights or leggins underneath and you will be fine)

In my opinion, the perfect dress for any homecoming would be this:

Its cute and wearable, appropriate for this event, and not slutty or trashy.

Please, whatever you do, don't go wearing one of those super short, super low cut, with a slit all the way up the side, tight, glittery, mass of ruffles dresses that alot of girls are into. Its your first dance at highschool when you will probably be seeing alot more people than you see in the school day and you don't want to give off the wrong impression on all those people there.

You don't have to go and buy the exact dresses that I mentioned here, because I know a couple of them are expensive. They are just examples all though any of them would work for the dance if thats what you want.

Best Luck!

It really depends on your school. Some schools some girls wear large hoop dresses for homecoming and some wear cocktail type dresses and vice a versa for the prom. Which does your school favor for homecoming? Either way I would recommend picking a color that suits your skin tone, for instance if you are fair skinned you want neutral or cool colors, if you are darker complected you want warm. Good luck and if you need more help after those important step, let us know what the norm is at your school about dress type. Have fun and be safe.

try a vintage 1950's look: the stapless short dress that is classy. i think that the look will never go out of style! try a black or red one which is so in style as of rt. now, get some matching shoes, a clutch and get your hai done in in updo since it is a strapless or you may want to look into going loose curls with the hair, a nice seductive make up and light lips. good luck at HC and have fun!

Don't wear a long dress. Play it safe. Wear a short stylish stunning dress. Not too dressy, make it a semi-formal dress. And remember your accessorizes(including shoes, jewelry, hair clips, hair styles, purse) not to compliment your outfit. Basically, pick one thing to be your vocal point in this outfit (weather it is your purse or jewelry) and keep everything else simply.

u should def wear a nice dress thats stylish but not slutty or too fancy, its only a hyped-up school dance, so just wear something nice, not to casual, not too fancy.
