It is not a myth. This actually does happen and is due to the body's amazing ability to adapt. The calf muscles are very specialized for gait and therefore have a rather narrow range of operation. When you wear heels for the first time your extended ankle angle will put the calf muscles way out of this range and gait will be difficult. Over time of wearing high heels the calf muscles wil adapt and change their optimum range of motion to be in the heeled posture, and flat foot walking will be awkward.
This is not necessarily a bad thing. If you do walk on high heels most of the time, the muscles are simply adapting to this and making life easier for you.

No not really. Low heels are like sneakers to me. And so far I am fine with high heels (just learned how to walk in high heels this summer).

Constantly wearing high heels can cause your Achilles' tendon to tighten up/shorten, which will definitely make it uncomfortable to wear lower heels or flats. The trick is to vary your heel heights.

You might need to stretch out your calves. You can do it by standing on a step and letting your heel hang off the edge one foot at a time

I wish i could walk in high heels. But I see what you mean, if I got used to it it would feel awkward.
