try some nirvana. in bloom & come as you are

green day 'good riddance (time of your life)'

alkaline trio 'blue in the face'

manics 'if you tolerate this'

radiohead 'high and dry'

k, when playing rock songs use the power chord shape at first, ie.

E| 0 1 2 3
A| 2 3 4 5

the 1,3 chord is the hardest (F) because you have to spread your fingers the most. but from then on it gets easier. start off playing only the bass note, one string& one note at a time, then turn it into a chord. 'high and dry' is simple: B, F#, E the whole way thru. keep practising, it's the only way to build up the strength in your hands.. trust

Early Beatles' songs are simple and easy to learn. I learned to play the violin by listening to the melody and playing it while I practiced. As they became more advanced, so did their music.

Best wishes.
