I had periods like that and worse all of my life! I would be on it for 6 wks sometimes, skip a week and be on it again. Sometimes I would go 2 mo without one. I do not know how my body knew when to get pregnant but I had 3 healthy babies. I hope you are fine and that you just have a wierd period like I did. The dr put me on birth control to regulate it when I was 18 and it was regulated finally.Best wishes!

I can't answer right now but I can tell you I've been having the same problem. I'm 46, a little young for menopause. I've just completed my third period since early August. Basically, I got the regular one, had a week in between, got another one, another week in between, etc. I have an appointment with my doctor on Thursday and will try to repost to this question to tell you what my doctor said. I can only repost if your question is still open though. Or if you would like to e-mail me, we can correspond privately on the matter My address is patricia.dynia@snet.net. I've never given my address out before on this site, but it sounds like we might both benefit from comparing notes on this. So if you want to, please e-mail me after this Thursday (Sept. 21).

I would think since the organs in your abdomen are all fine, no fibroids, etc, it must be either hormonal or your thyroid. Have you had a recent sore throat or laryngitis? You can get Thyroiditis and it will give you horrible periods! Blood work will probably answer the question for you and your Dr.

Hormones get out of sync.Used to happen to me all the time when I was younger. The doctor woudl merely put me on the pilll for a few motnhs and it would straighten out. If the problem came back, he'd put be back on the pill.
Did they check your thyroid? Thyroid problems can cause this, too.

Are you on the pill? Sometimes if I miss a day or take my pill at a different time I get my period a couple times in a month. If not,see a gynecologist.

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR HORMONES ARE OUT OF WHACK. TRY USING THE BIRTH CONTROL PILL TO REGULATE YOUR PERIODS. I KNOW PEOPLE THAT THIS HAS HELPED. KIND OF PUT THEM BACK ON THE RIGHT TRACK.
