This question, along with some of the answers have to be the most ignorant! Where are there slave masters at?? I was born in 1983, and im in America....I never had a slave master. So, what in god's name are you talking about?? Then there is a girl with a dumb answer here talking about blacks are the only race of people who think they were the only ones oppresed. Um, I took history in high school as well as college and I passed both with a A+. So im fully aware of the fact that we were not the only ones oppresed. However, we were the only ones who endured much more damage which is still effecting some of us today. We weren't only kept as slaves and kept busy by picking cotton and brushing the lazy, fat *** white mans hair..no. A whole method on tearing my people down was formed and still spins in a cycle until this day. Willie Lynch and his clan worked extra hard to damage us in every aspect, from black marriages, to the way we raise our children, to the way the black women think, down to the way a black man fucntions. Yes this was long ago, but the effects still caress the soul and minds of us today which is why it is still talked about. In any event, I don't stress that issue unless it is braught up..like now. And to this BLACKMAN who asked this question and who addresses his own damn race as "blacks" I have to say that you make all of us as African Americans look ignorant, and you embarasss me! Yes that's right because, for some reason, us as African American people are like a band, a choir...when one ***** up we all **** up, and it becomes associated with the various stereo typicals about African Americans; Such as some of the ones that were stated here today. I don't know if yout think your getting brownie points from the whites are what, but you my brotha are a disgrace to our nation!
So agin let me state this once again, I am not ran by any damn democratic slave and I fucntion on my own as a solo star. So whatever this poison is thats been inflicted upon you soul and mind, you need to clense and cure it!
luv, live life
Shalom

Perhaps because without some guidance, they couldn't manage on their own. To wit, the chaos in African countries without the interference of 'whities', to wit the abundance of black children in the adoption system from parents abandoning them. To wit, the elected leaders that fall down on their jobs and their race. To wit the incidence of STD amongst the blacks. To wit the number of black drop-out students in ratio to whites. This takes more than racism to solve and you haven't further the black cause a bit by being more separatist. You need to look for common grounds and heal the gap, not widen it by rehashing old troubles. It is time that we grew up to understand that all people are striving to have a good life, a good home and a happy family and security, not bigotry.

Allowing someone power over your life is a personal weakness. One that I do not believe is exclusively equated with being black.

Sorry, i can't answer this one for u. you have to figure it out from within yourself or with others around you but I can tell you one thing, YOU ARE MUCH SMARTER AND WISER THAN MOST OF THE PEOPLE ANSWERING YOUR QUESTION! Maybe one day you will think of a solution to a lot of racial problems out there! Also, I don't believe racism was your motivation behind this question. Take Care, Thanks, J

I don't know, why do you?
Seriously though, it's all in your head...no, I mean that. Check this out...
My wife is a teacher in a typical mid-western high school. Black students represent about 12% of the student body. I help her grade papers at home, and I personally read the answers given by all students, black and white. Time and time again, the white students clearly study, and care about their grade. Black students fail, and fail badly. Recently all students were invited to take the ACT Test. 198 white students, 2 asian, and 10 black students took the test. 35 black students declined to take the test at all. Of those that took the test, 68% of white students got acceptable scores on the test. Both asian students passed, of course. None, that's right, NONE of the black students passed the ACT test. All of these students sit in the same classroom. They all get the same homework. They all take the same tests. Yet, black students just don't take advantage of the opportunities afforded all students EQUALLY. I'm sick and tired of hearing the same old tired excuses from the black community that whitey tries to keep them down. It's the opposite! My wife spends more time dealing with disorderly black students all the time, when she could be spending that time teaching the rest of the class that cares about learning. Every year, there are more and more scholarships offered exclusively to black students who simply don't even try to take them...Why?
Look at Oprah Winfrey. One of the richest women in the world, to say nothing of the fact that she's a black woman. She's from back woods Mississippi, and had nothing as a child. She took advantage of her opportunities. She learned in school. She made something of herself. No one kept her from doing it!
Stop looking for excuses for failure, and start looking for ways to get your people to start caring about their futures!
You're only as equal as you want to be.

Why are blacks the only race of people that think they were the only race to be oppressed in history?
It was 200 years ago! We're tired of hearing about it.
Pick yourselves up and move on.
