So we all know he should win the AL MVP, especially after going 5-5 tonight but he wont? Ortiz did not carry his team enough and Derek Jeter had a good year, but not MVP like numbers. Who would you choose?

Johan Santana carried the Twins, but Morneau was more important to the line-up than Mauer. I actually agree that he should be the MVP. Mine goes like this:

1. Morneau
2. Dye
3. Ortiz
4. Jeter
5. Hafner

Well here's what an MVP candidate is suppose to have/be.

1-A Great Leader
2-Puts up big numbers on Offense
3-Puts down numbers on Defense
4-You have to think "Where is this team without him?"
5-Has to have a good attitude and gives great effortwether its a losing effort or a winning.
6-What has this person done that a no one on the team has ever done or has done in a long time?

Their is more, but i can't think of them right now. Their are lots of people that are going up for MVP, Dye is good, Ortiz, Jeter, Morneau, every one of them are great. But, the thing that matters is...

""What will that person do later towards the END of the year?"" Will he hit an important game winning RBI/HR? Will he do a good play? Theirs still only 2 weeks left.

Morneau may not be the MVP this year, but he is one that might be chosen to me one.

First off, Morneau is a good young player but he did not solely carry his team this season. The team as a whole stepped it up and if they didn't step it up Morneau would not even be considered for the AL MVP. The award should go to David Ortiz for the simple fact he has no one on the Boston Red Sox besides Manny Ramriez. He has given Red Sox fans hope for the playoffs. NL MVP, 1. Ryan Howard, 2.Albert Pujolus
AL MVP 1. David Ortiz, 2. Derek Jeter, 3 Justin Morneau

Morneau should not win the MVP, he is over shadowed on his own team by Mauer. With all the big names in New York nobody has over shadowed Jeter this year. He has been consistent and he had a 25 game hit streak in september, when games need to be won to secure a spot in the playoffs.

I think Justin Morneau has be the most consistent all round player in the AL this year and should get it...I'm from Minnesota so naturally I'd say that!!

don't you know that you are only going to hear from the yank fans?.. remeber, lioke in the early years, the world is flat and when you go beyond new york you fall into a deep pit and never come back, that's why the sports writers don't even know where minnesota is
