My battery died and now the stereo reads CODE. I don't know where the code for the stereo is. I've checked the manuel and apparently it has been removed. We're the first owners so it was by us, but I dont know where it is, so, what's the next step.? How do I find the code elsewhere? Without spending the extra $$$ for a Professional to step in?

u can try holding 1 and 6 down and then turn your radio on...u can sometimes get the serial number from that.....if u see a bunch of odd numbers and letters pop up then write them down...u should then be able to call your local honda dealer and they will in just a few key strokes be able to give u your radio code...if that dont work then u will have to pull the radio out and get the serial number off the radio case itself...there is no other way if the number has been lost from your glove box....

We own a Honda Civic Hybrid too...

...I remember when we bought the car that the Salesman wrote the code for the stereo in the owner's manual. But the physical code...it's actually a piece of white plastic that is in a very small baggie in the glove compartment.

If you still can't find it, contact the dealer where you bought the car...they should provide this code without charge to you.

Good Luck :-) Contact me if you need any more help!

I have a honda civic too. When that happened to me I took it to the dealership, and they were able to eventually figure out what the code is. the had to do a lot of calling around. Their is some way to figure it out by pushing buttons, but i forgot what it was. Take it to the dealership... they may even have it on file

code means to reprogram the radio. you lost all memory when you disconnected the battery. if you don't know how, the manual should tell you how to program the radio. if not, take it to an electronics store that sells auto radios and does install. the installer should be able to help, and not charge. try best buy, radio shack or some similar electronics retailer.

if you have a honda hybrid, it probibly is still under warranty. take it to a dealership. not some grease monkey at your local gas station and not your "buddy" from college with a cool car. hybrids are electricaly compact and verry complicated. i am an internal combustion enhancement specialist ( i build high performance cars) . trust me.

I checked some sites and they all say something about checking inside the glove box.
