If your interested in running regionally, or controlling your route and you have both your tractor and trailer are yours...I'd go and get your own authority. It would afford you to control when and where you wish to go. You can decide when those wheels roll and at what price. However, if you owe the bank money for the tractor particulary, running in a wider region helps make payments. I think your off to a right start by asking questions. The gentleman above me listed companies to look at, but keep in mind your running under their authority and insurance in some cases, so picking and chooing might be an issue. O/O's are special breed. Good luck and keep er' between the lines.

There are a lot of options open to you.
The FIRST place I'd check is a local broker. Yeah, I know, I think the same thing, but some have pretty good connections.
As far as "... who you know", it is like that everywhere in life. It just isn't politically correct.
Check with
Schneider
C.R. England
Tri-State
....for starters.
Another thought; did you go through a school for your tag? If so, give them a call, most serious outfits are always looking at the schools for graduates, and they can give you a bit of a heads up.
California wasn't on your list, but it is still worth a try. There are a couple of pretty decent schools in the Orange County area.
Check at the truck stop, on the "load-out" boards.

Hope you hook up soon!!
