I agree with most of these answers. Another thing you can do to help your uterus shrink faster (therby reducing the appearance of your tummy) is to BREASTFEED.
I have a 21/2 month old, and I'm almost back into my old clothes. I gained 50 pounds while I was pregnant. And I'm not even trying to excercise yet. Once I do begin to excercise, it will be a wrap

Yes you will still look pregnant when you leave the hospital, so bring maternity clothes to go home in. From what they told us in Lamaze class you will loose about 12-14 pounds when you leave the hospital and from personal experience that is correct. It all depends on how much you gained as to how quickly you will start to look like you again. I was very lucky and was back to my pre pregnancy weight in 3 weeks, but from what friends have told me I am not the norm. I have friends that never did loose that last 10 pounds. Even though I lost the weight, my stomach never did go back to normal.

Depending on the size of the baby, how much fluid you have, and the amount of blood loss, you will lose 10-20 pounds in the delivery room.
You will continue to lose weight over the next week as your body adjusts your volume of blood. If you were retaining water due to the pregnancy, you will lose that weight the first week as well. Your body needs about 4 pounds of fat to burn to heal itself from the delivery. Your body will not look exactly like it did before you got pregnant, even if you weigh the same or less. You need to give it time. If you have a c-section your stomach will pooch for awhile while it's healing. If you are breast feeding, things get back into place much faster. If for nothing else, breast feed for six weeks -- it's good for YOU as well as the baby.
In an uncomplicated pregnancy, with a vaginal delivery, with normal weight gain, most women are about back into shape in six weeks. Remember your body needs to rest and heal after delivery, so eat right and wait until your doctor clears you to begin / resume an exercise routine.
Good Luck!!!

This depends on how much you weigh. if you are more overweight you may still look very pregnant. if you are more on the tiny side, you'll only look about 4-6 months prego. if that. There is also swelling the few days after childbirth. but coming from personal experience. I was 160 pregnant, and after 2 months, I am now at 130 slowly returning back to normal. the belly has completly gone down, now the skin just needs to tighen up. So plan on at least a full year to get back to normal.
Remember, it took 9 months to get that way, so it will take a lil bit to get back to the old you!

i lost 23 lbs during pregnancy and 10-15 afterwards... it will take up to 6 weeks for your uterus to get back to normal so you will still look like you have a little belly
