FIrefox is better than Internet Explorer for many reasons.
1.) Mozilla Firefox is open source ... meaning many people can modify the code of the application and improve if they want. There is a lot of stuff that Mozilla Firefox has to offer and you can find some good stuff at http://firefox.puropc.com
2.) Internet Explorer ... as usual is ripping off the tabbed navigation first developed my mozilla
3.) For the next few months IE 7 will be pretty safe, but as soon as you think that there is no problem, it will have a serious flaw that could compromise your system... Microsoft basically has fused internet explorer into the operating system... meaning if there is a security issue it will probably hinder the whole system.
4.) Firefox has the control and flexibility to import settings from Internet Explorer ... Does Internet Explorer have the ability to import settings from others... the simple answer is NO
5.) As for the non-standard applications that they have incorporated into their browser, well if it is not a "standard", I dont want it... I am just silly that way!
6.) When Firefox has a serious vulnerability, it uninstalls your current version and installs a "fresh" new version with the code fix ... Try to uninstall Internet Explorer --- Its impossible for some!
I could rant on for hours, but will stop. Do what you want when you want to. But, IMHO Firefox outbeats Internet Explorer hands down.

Actually, Firefox has been using tabbed browsing way before IE7 came along. And from what I read, Firefox 2 should be released in a week and will include anti-fishing, the ability to undo a closed tab, the ability to recover lost bookmarks after a system crash, and many other new features. IE started using tabbed browsing after Firefox came out and started to gain popularity.

Firefox, more stable and more features through free addons. IE 7 is so copy, nothing new and the interface appears stupid like netscape (looks cool but slows down browsing). Firefox is faster if you set right settings. Firefox is industry standard, IE7 is MS standard only.
Bottom line: no matter how many changes Microsoft makes they wont make more secure product than competitors because they are the easiest target due to their dominance.
Both Vista and IE7 are overrated (They maybe secure than their predecessor but not secure enough to their rivals).

By nature, Internet Explorer with active x etc cannot be as secure as Firefox...
United States Computer Emergency Team:
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...ActiveX (etc)...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"
http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/713878
It will be interesting to see what the folks at Microsoft can cook up to improve what they already have.
On top of this, IE7 will still not support web standards, and this drives up the cost of web developing, leaving us consumers ultimately paying the bill.
Compare the results of the web standards test:
The test results are suppose to look like this:
http://common.ziffdavisinternet.com/util_get_image/13/0,1425,sz=1&i=133648,00.jpg
Firefox 2 results:
http://common.ziffdavisinternet.com/util_get_image/13/0,1425,sz=1&i=133649,00.jpg
IE7 results:
http://common.ziffdavisinternet.com/util_get_image/13/0,1425,sz=1&i=133650,00.jpg
Opera results (perfect):
http://common.ziffdavisinternet.com/util_get_image/13/0,1425,sz=1&i=133651,00.jpg
You can try the test here to see that I'm not bu11 sh1ting you:
http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html
My bet, when the final versions come out, Firefox will still be more secure simply because it uses different technologies.

The promoters of Firefox (largely Microsoft detractors) proudly boast that it is "standards compliant" according to the W3C standards. Unfortunately it is not really the W3C that determines what the standard is. It is actually Microsoft, since 75% of computers run Internet Explorer. To bad the W3C won't descend from it's "ivory tower" and get real. Due to the differing CSS/HTML support between Firefox and IE, many sites that are designed to look well in IE (most of them), look like doodoo in Firefox. In order not to alienate the 25% of users that run Firefox, I spent hours of redesign of my software site, http://www.toucanmultimedia.com and it was a real pain, and still like many sites, it looks better in Internet Explorer than in Firefox. In my opinion, Internet Explorer is the better browser, and the average website will look better with it.

I'm happy with Firefox and only switch to IE to access IE-only webpages.
It took me hours to install IE7 RC1... the progress bar is not very helpful, not telling how much more to complete.
