yes, i think so. Lucky for me my middle school allowed us to take high school spanish (for actual credit) with a great teacher so many of the freshmen at my school are already in 2nd year spanish, at the tops of their classes (me being one of those people i would know). I think with the amount of diversity in America now, a second language not only helps you with finding a job, but because of the massive amount of immigrants (mostly Mexican) allows you to communicate with almost everyone

Sign language should be mandatory regardless, since most students are so poor at speaking and writing, they should have some way to communicate intelligently.
Foreign language should also be mandatory (not including sign language as foreign). It would remove a lot of fear that people have of meeting foreigners, and open them up to the possibility that people who don't speak English are not all that different. Americans are too arrogant and fearful, usually of things they know absolutely nothing about.

I think it should be mandatory. Some high school students don't realize how important a second language is to them while they are in school. I will be graduating in May with 2 degrees and with I had been more focused in Spanish in high school. Now I am soon to be graduating and want to learn Spanish. It will help if you learn it in high school, and with Spanish it will better your jobs in the future. Sign Language, I have a cousin who is deaf and I can't sign at all. (Only the ABC's) wish I could learn that too. He stays at least 2 hours from me so its not like I have to use it everday.

I think it should. In Western Europe, a vast percentage of the population in each country knows two languages and I think it benefits them. Another language broadens a persons mind as well as increases their brain power.
Also, you spelled foreign wrong. It's not "forign."

I think it is good for students to know some of another language....but if u take two years of it..and then after a year u forget everything you learned anyways so its really pointless...some ppl just have a really hard time learning foreign languages i know i had a tough time with french...i wouldnt recommend takin it if u have a choice.

Yes it should. Other than Native Americans we all came from elsewhere originally or our ancesters did. Learning the foreign language is part of that culture.

Yes. It helps build vocabulary- many of our words are derived from foreign languages. If we knew some of another language, we can almost know hundreds of more word meanings.
