It is entirely your option, but most people will advise "NO".
I love Sushi, but to be completly honest with you, I really love this child I am carrying and I will not do anything to harm it.
I'm 23 weeks pregnant now, and have not touch: all type of Sushi (be it raw fish or the chicken teriyaki), salads from Deli (esp the one with mayo), alcohol, pre-made sandwiches (the cold meat), mussels, uncooked salami, ham etc during the whole pregnancy.
When you are pregnant, your immune system is lower (so the body can accept the foetus).
The thing that can cause miscarriage is the bacterium Listeria sp. You can't see it, the food might not even smell bad or in a dirty condition, but it can contain Listeria. Other people might be OK with it, but you might not be (again, as your immune system is crappier)
The place you are having it may be clean, but can you guarantee that the fish is clean and OK from the moment it was caught?
Think about it this way: IS IT WORTH THE RISK? Can you live with yourself if you suffer from miscarriage because you eat Sushi?
Tell you the truth, I do miss Sushi, but hey, it will only be 9 months! After I am giving birth, my husband has promised to take me to the best sushi place and I can gorge myself silly!

Check with your ob.gyn. However, I don't think you should eat sushi. A lot of fish has a high content of mercury, which could harm the fetus. There could also be parasites or Lord knows what else. I'd hold off at least through the first trimester. Rely on what your doc says.

Don't, please. You don't want to open yourself up to infections, period. You are more likely to get sick while you're pregnant, b/c your immune system is "turned low" to keep your body from treating the fetus as an infection, much like transplant patients who are on immunosupressants to prevent rejection of the new organ.
You can get sick from moldy cheese, even, like brie and gruyere. So, it doesn't matter how clean the sushi bar is, it's the fish itself you have to be worried about. If it sat on the trawler's deck too long, well, that's all it takes.

The only problem is, it's not only an issue with cleanliness...it's the mercury in fish. You would be ok with California Roll or something else that doesn't have any actual raw fish.

NO! No raw fish, no shell fish (even cooked) no canned tuna, no soft cheese, no lunch meat. . . . they all have a chance of having a bacteria that cause miscarriages.

No its not ok....actually they'll tell you to avoid any shellfish due to the high levels of mercury present in them....so dont eat any uncooked fish or any shellfish.

its not about cleanliness, doctors say no, i would say no. plus the new fact that high mercury which is found in fish is linked to autism.
