They dont look out for anything for you since it is not an illness and there are no symptoms. It involves giving you antibiotics in your IV during delivery. No harm will come to you. The group B strep can harm your baby if you are having a vaginal delivery. The baby can have complications if it catches the strep on the way out. From what I have read, if you dont get the antibiotics there is 1-400 chance of the baby becoming contaminated, and with antibiotics there is 1-4000 chance. It can potentially be serious for the baby and they will monitor the baby closely for 24 hours after birth to make sure that there are no signs of infection, but it seems the odds are in your favor. I did not have it during my first pregnancy but do have it this time. The strep bacteria is something that lives naturally in the vagina or rectum and sometimes shows up in pregnant women. It is just something you carry, and nothing you can do about it except treat it with antibiotics in the delivery room.

No they will but you on a IV of antiboidics. There should be no fever or anything like that. Like 90% of all people have it and it is not harmful to us. It can effect the baby if it is born vaginally while the bacteria is present, it could make the baby blind and so forth. The bacteria is usually found in bowel movements. Like I said though it is not really a big deal, they will treat you with the IV and you should be fine. It is VERY COMMON!!! CONGRATS and Goodluck

Hello, i tested pos for strep when pregnant with first daughter, the only thing they worry about is the baby contracting it on the way out, the first thing you should tell the nurse is that you have it once they get you in the hospital that way they start you right away on antibiotics ( more likely pennicillin, if not allergic to it). But make sure you tell them in case your being rushed in at last minute make sure someone who would be bringing you to hosp know to tell someone.

group B strep is not symptomatic. The woman shows no symptoms and carrying the virus does not harm her. The thing they do at the hospital is give you antibiotics to make it so your baby is not affected. Your baby can get pnemonia if the bacteria is injested in the birth canal.

i don't be responsive to too lots approximately strep-b. I have been given examined a pair weeks in the past and it grew to become into unfavorable, whether I discovered that that is especially regularly occurring for some pregnant women to have it on an identical time as pregnant. They try some weeks previous to time so as that they are in a position to maintain on record while you're useful or unfavorable formerly you pass into labor. in case you examined useful, they provide you drugs on an identical time as in labor so it would not get surpassed down on your toddler. i does no longer difficulty too lots approximately it. that is undemanding, and docs would be waiting to verify all is going properly for the two you and your toddler. i does no longer hesitate to boost any questions whether at your next appointment. they are going to be waiting to ease your strategies of any concerns you have :) Take care and congrats!
