I have an assignment in my english class where I have to write about at least 3 characsteristics that make a New Yorker. I really don't know what to write because I just moved in New York from Texas this past summer. So I am still adjusting and really don't have any idea what makes a New Yorker since I am not really a New Yorker myself.

New Yorkers are resilient...they survived 9/11 with dignity and stoicism.
New Yorkers are diverse...there are approximately 138 languages are spoken in Queens alone(according to NY State Comptroller).
New Yorkers are curious...there are over 100 museums in New York

Your statement should read: New Yorkers are the most obnoxious people on the planet because:
If you have been there even a week, you should be able to fill up a couple of pages at least.
You can start with their accent. I cringe everytime one of them opens their mouth within earshot--which of course is within half a mile cause THEY ALL TALK LIKE WE'RE DEAF OR SOMETHING!
Then there's the hands. I swear to god, a New Yorker in hand cuffs wouldn't be able to talk cause they can't wave them around.
And let's not forget rudeness. Heaven help you if you have to ask for directions or look at them the wrong way, or kindly point out that this is the express lane, you can't bring 100 items through here, sorry.
I am born and bred Floridian and I tell you what...I try not to hate anyone but those *%&#$ yankees (esp. New Yorkers) sure make it hard.
