what is a gerbil I have seen this in my post a couple of times?

But I don't know what it is I live in Australia. It is an animal of some type but what type would it be what we as Aussie know them as if we have them.

A small rodent...looks like a mouse. It hops around much like a kangaroo.

A small rodent about the size of a hamster. They hop around on their 2 back legs.
