Iron is not an efficient insulator of heat; it's a poor insulator (but it is a good conductor of heat). Good insulators for heat are styrofoam and a vacuum like the man said, also wood, porcelain / ceramic, glass, asbestos (probably shouldn't include this because it's a rather nasty health hazard), and heavy, woven cloth (as seen in an oven mitt).

No, iron is not an insulator of heat. Being a metal, it conducts heat and electricity to the best of its capability with help from its electrons.

No. Cast iron is used in steam radiators because it conducts heat.

Styrofoam is an insulator. This is why it is used in coffee cups (so you do not feel the heat). A vacuum is also good. This is why the "vacuum bottle" or Dewar flask works.
