I think the words after the semi-colin have to be a complete thought.

Ex: I couldn't believe my eyes; it was a real unicorn!

You have received many correct answers so far.

When you use a semi-colon each side has to convey a complete thought. They would each have to stand alone as sentences. So your grammar is correct, but your punctuation isn't the best. I couldn't believe my eyes, a real unicorn!

Some people will say (and it is true) that sentences can have parts of speech that are understood. Such as in, Shut the door! The "you" in understood in that sentence. It is not necessary to say, "You, shut the door," In the same way it is correct to say, "A real unicorn!" The part of speech is understood. But do you really want to get into the argument with a teacher.? I would not, so change your sentence to save yourself some trouble.

A hyphen would fit better than a semicolon. You're dividing a thought. A semicolon traditionally separates two complete sentences.

No you can't use a ";" If you use a ";" the second part has to be a sentance. "a real unicorn" lacks a verb.

In short no

No it is not.
A semicolon is used for two independent clauses.
