I think it's to allow emphasis on delicious food, not delicious-looking people. Would you want to go to a restaurant w/ a date where he stares at the waitresses more than at you?

I agree that ugly uniforms being worn for comfort of the employees may be true in many cases. But there are some waitresses/waiters who're required to dress well. How about http://www.butlersinthebuff.co.uk/ for an example?

Cause if your cooking you wouldn't want to get your nice clothes dirty right? But if your a waitress of course the company would'nt buy a expensive uniform for an employee. Maybe if they would buy it themselves..so yeah :].

So creepy people wont check you out. Thank your employer for saving you from getting weird looks from nasty people that are just picturing you under those clothes. I think that ugly uniforms is a safety mechanism.

That is to keep customers from hitting on them and then being disappointed in the rejection and not coming back to the restaurant.
