The scientific answer for where love comes from is found in similarity. We love what is similar to us. I say similar because identical is innacurate. We are most pleased with things that are just slightly different from what we are used to - we are most used to ourselves as far as people go, which is why in the case of love people who are slightly different from us attract to us. Studies have been done that show that people who are of about the same level of attractiveness tend to have the most compatibility.

So why do we love? We love because we have found somebody almost exactly like us!

Bluntly enough, it is to make more people.

Or so that is the scientific researched reason for it which in my opinion is not the complete picture because it doesn't explain homosexual love (though I also have a theory for this ^_^).

We fall in love because if we don't, we'd see everything negative or ugly about the other person and wouldn't want them to have kids with and if this happens that nobody thinks another person is worthy then the human race would cease to exist.

Or we can always go with the humanly reasons... companionship, the feelings of being elated, happiness, experience which are in my opinion is a whole lot better explanation. :D

You might not know about this...
Tantric Buddhism can answer this.
According to it, we all have an essence of the opposite sex. I forgot what essence. It's like for a man, he will have an inner essence of female and vise versa. So when a man sees a woman who's compatible, he feels that this woman fulfills part of him. The same with the opposite sex. And thus born love.
