The failure rate is about 2%. The odds are WAY against you getting pregnant--but it can happen. I think at years go by, the odds increase. My cousin had this done 15 yrs ago, and at 40 was pg...she now has a 5 yr old little girl. I had my tubes tied almost a yr ago, and they burned and cauterized them. My OB did mention to me while doing this that if I ever missed a period, I should take a pg test. So, it's possible. And last month, I was a week late with my period...and worried. I am almost 39 and possibly having signs of menopause--my mom and aunts when thru it this early. So I wasn't sure what to think. ANYWAY, not sure if any of this info is answering your question...but while I was searching for answers last month--I stumbled across this woman's story...http://www.thesaidifamily.com/kaden/index.htm
it's an interesting story.

I had a tubal and 4 years later got preg in my tubes and lost the baby so to answer your question yes you can get preg, but not everyone has the same problem that i had, there were some women at the clinic when i was there who also had a tubal and were preg so it is not a 100% grantee.

If the tubes are cut and or burned and then tied they don't grow back together. Years ago they were only tied off and did come untied, but stop and think about it, if they are cut and burned how would they grow back? Once they are cut, it's like cutting a water hose and trying to put it back together, no way

you can still have an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, but as for having a pregnancy and coming to term with it, i'd say that it is very rare unless you have your tubal reversed. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years and the my doctor said that i'd have to have it reversed if i wanted to have any more children.

Yes, it's possible.
My MIL had her tubes tied after she gave birth to my husband (she's diabetic).
Six years later, my sister-in-law was born.
It can happen. It's rare, but it can happen. In bout 1 in 200 cases, the tubes will grow back together.

I don't think it is possible for them to grow back...

And just as an FYI, all of those papers you signed before the operation made sure you realized NOTHING except absinance is 100% foolproof. Yes, you CAN get pregnant.

usually they cut and burn. or tie, it is not 100 percent effective, 2 to 3 percent allowed for human error, also it may not be a permanent solution, I will tell you why, my friend had the tying reversed and went on to have 2 more children.

I think that there is a 0.9% chance of that happening. I believe I saw this stat on the website www.fertility.org
