I want to know more about how we as a species perceive the world around us.

In my lifetime so far I have had several hints as I have grown that life is much more than what it appears to be. For example, what is our purpose on this planet? To me the answer seems to be much more than the banalities that are “given” to us on a social level.

There seems to be so much more for us to perceive.

The way our species perceives time for example. We all seem to realize that we each experience the passage of time differently. A certain event to one seems to “fly” by and for another it seems to “drag” on. How many times have you heard people say things like: “find your passion and time just seems to fly by”, or some such statement. In society we have even had to formalize how we count the passage of time so that we can “relate” or socialize on a similar scale so that we can harmonize our efforts to be productive in some fashion or another.

It is examples like time and other such ideas that I think about that cause me to reflect about us. It causes me to wonder about what we are doing here.

Could the way we as a species perceive time be just that? Could the world around us be much more than that? What if we could go beyond that boundary that appears to me to be species related, how would we “see” the universe then? Should we?

There are many questions to be answered . . ..

I would like to know more about who the biblical authors were and just where and how they obtained the information they wrote about. For example, did they witness the miracles themselves or did they receive the information second hand... or third hand. For those who wrote about the virgin birth, did they even live in the same time period as Mary and Joseph or were they documenting the story well after the fact, based on word of mouth? Did any of them actually meet Mary? And how would anyone know who is or isn't a virgin and be certain enough to write or talk about it? It seems that many religious people have spent large amounts of time reading their bibles and they are experts at quoting passages, but how many of them have ever taken it on their own to learn more about their source. I would like to know more than they do about the people whose work they are quoting.

Idea 1: I'd like to know more about space. In paragraph 1 you write about how curious you find space. In paragraph 2 you write about the different things you know about space. In paragraph 3 you close the journal entry by writing how amazing it would be for you to learn about the different things regarding space.

Idea 2: I'd like to know more about the consumption of coffee in the US. In paragraph 1 you open up by writing about how much coffee you believe is drunk by Americans. You can mention coffee shops. In paragraph 2 you write about different ways Americans consume coffee (hot, cold, in icecream, etc). In paragraph 3 you close the journal by writing that the coffee is rich in taste and that you or the people around you love it.

The nature of human culture; it's the ultimate study, since everything we know, say, believe, think, and do is a part of it.
