Your not mistaken, sounds like Congress could do something to at least change the oil companies guidelines, or get rid of the gas stations. Oh, wait, Congress does not do anything, nevermind

They can control buisnesses within the U.S. They cannot control international companys. They could put a cap on the price at which it is sold for taking away from the profits of the station which in turn would shut down becuase they were paying for the people to buy the gas.

I think the big oil companies control the price and with the elections coming up, the price has gone down. Some of it's political I think. Also, we need to go to other types of fuels, with all this mess in the middle east, we should never have become so dependent on them for oil sources.
If everyone would not drive for one weekend a month, except for emergency situations, we could put a dent in this thing.

Regulation has to guarantee a profit for those regulated or it won't work. Looking at it another way it's called government sponsored price fixing. I'm more concerned about plain old price fixing. Once big business realized Microsoft wasn't going to be broken up, they knew they weren't going to be held to anti-trust laws. They could price fix to their hearts content, and even if something did happen, the slap on the wrist would be small. Thank a Republican.

The big government officials own lots of stock in the oil companies. The higher prices go, the higher the return they get on their stocks. Sure makes sense to me.

precisely what he stated. He couldn't have positioned it any less difficult to be basic. there changed into no cryptic message in there. A terrorist attack facilitates McCain because there are nonetheless many stupid human beings residing interior the States that proceed to trust that 9/11 changed into no longer an interior pastime and that George Bush has managed to save them secure for the most suitable seven years. A terrorist attack ought to strengthen the perception in human beings that the terrorists are nonetheless accessible and that united states must be vigilant in preserving united states secure by making use of electing a President that knows the authentic threat dealing with human beings at present. "enable us no longer tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories" must be the subject material of the day and individuals ought to rally behind John McBush and plead for him to save the day. NO to Obama. NO to McCain.
