Well yesterdays music had too many limitations....any band that was even remotely decent ended up being extreamly popular because people had nothin else to listen to...also every single band had the same format..a lead singer, a lead guitarist, bass guitarist and a drummer....today that same format is predominant but you will see many other styles of bands like hip-hop groups where they have a DJ and an MC or electronic music where essentially the producers of the album are the band members themselves and most of their work is done sitin down in a sound lab just editingn and mixing.

I think todays music is a whole lot more open to newer ideas and cross cultural theams. Yesterday gave us some great great artists but without a doubt todays music is much better. When i say music i am talking about "real music". not that the crap you see on MTV...cuz if thats your idea of todays music then i think we are in the dark ages....MTV sucks!

Not much difference. The other day at work someone was saying how today's music is all about violence and drugs. So I said sarcastically "Unlike music from your generation, songs like Hey Joe or White rabbit" He didn't say much about today's music after that.

Alot! Besides, older music got airplay because it was good music, these days all you really need are the looks to get heard. There is still some good music out there now, it's just few and far between.

It depends on what type of music you're talking about. In my opinion Classic Rock was much better than today's Rock; R&B is okay now, but lacks the Soul of yesteryear, besides; you can hardly learn the words today. You use to be able to sing along to any song. Country is MUCH better now than yesteryear. Not so hillbillylike:) So you see....it all depend on what type of music you're referring to. Good Question. I love all music except classical, and bluegrass. Pop, Rock, R&B is the best! Again, my opinion.

Music today sucks... paying $20 dollars for 12 tracks of all the same songs but different mixes sucks also.

actually, music back in the day was known to MEAN something. todays music is like having too many issues and the substance only became numb to people. even today the music that was a bit moody then is legendary now.

Today it's a much bigger business and more corporate run. So, they are not going to funnel millions into something unless it follows a proven formula of success, therefore creativity and artistry take a back seat to sexy and high production value. So, today you have a product, and yesterday you had art.
