The answer is not so important. How to get the answer is more important.

25% can be expressed in several ways, such as 'one fourth," 1/4, .25 or one quarter. You could find any of these terms in a math word problem. To do math, you need to change any of these into .25

Why? Because % means 'percent' and that is a ratio looked at from parts per hundred. Like, how many dimes are there in a dollar? Well a dime is 10 cents. And there is that 'cents' part. Cent is used to indicate 100 like in 1 Century is 100 years. So there are 100 cents in a dollar. A dime is worth 10 of those. A dime (I) is 10% of a dollar (D). So, D/I=N where you divide the number of dollars by the number of dimes to find out how many dimes you have. But how?
Well, convert the word dollar into the number of cents = 100. convert the word dime into cents = 10. 100/10=10. You have ten dimes in a dollar.
Is there an easier way? Yes. You can check it and you will see that 10% can be expressed as .10 and then you can multiply instead of dividing. Multiplication is easier than division.

$155.00 is one hundred and fifty five cents. =155 (cents)
25% = .25 and you can multiply. You can change any % to the decimal form this way. 34% = .34 77% =.77 250% =2.5

How did I get those values? What is 100% of 1? 100% can be expresses as 1.00 So, from where the % sign was, you count over 2 numbers and put a decimal point.
50% becomes .5
25% becomes .25
20% becomes .2
175% becomes 1.75
5000% becomes 50
Using the decimal form means you can easily multiply.

In your problem, 25% becomes .25 and $155.00 becomes 155
.25 times 155 = 38.75

What is 100% of $155.00?
100% becomes 1
$155.00 becomes 155
1 times 155 = 155

;-D If you get over your fear of math and work it through step by step, it will become easier, and more useful. Concentrate! Don't listen to your mind when it tells you 'I hate math!' or 'I don't GET IT!' Just relax, focus your concentration 100% on following each step. You CAN get it!
