Real easy:

-6/7w = 1/8

Multiply both sides by -1, which gives you:
6/7w = -1/8

Now, multiply both sides by the reciprocal of w, (7/6):

w = 7/6 * -1/8
w = -7/48
--------------------
Check your answer, by replacing "w" with (-7/48)

(-6/7) * (-7/48) = 1/8

The sevens and negatives cancel, leaving:
6/48 = 1/8

Reduce 6/48 to it's lowest form:

1/8 = 1/8 <== checks!

Hope this helps.
