Vocally, Janet's voice is appropriate for ballads and mid-tempos as well as angry songs as in "What about Us" from the Velvet Rope album. Beyonce on the other hand know how to scream which is good but it gets pretty old as you listen to her album in one listen. Beyonce needs to soften up her voice for her ballads so she can make the syllables last like Mariah.
They are both good but I would put my money on Janet for a more well rounded vocal artist.

JANET all the way. Beyonce tends to screach and yell alot. I have like the way Janets voice sounds in every song she has ever done except for that one with Busta Rhymes where she does that high pitched squeal over and over.

Janet has a more subtle, silky tone... Beyonce is a powerhouse wif a rather pompous tone... Hence, vocally: Beyonce is e winner!!
