You can get those through data bases like Dun & Bradstreet and many more. They are listed by SIC codes (Standard Industrial Cassification Code). The data is sorted by industry, by size, by location and will have annual sales figures, number of employees and name and phone numbers of key people. But, most of these are not free. However, if you belong to your local library or an alumi of a university or community college, they often have those and they are free of charge. You can begin with the information desk at the library and tell you what you are looking for and they will help you through. You can search to your heart's desire. Have fun.

Hoovers.com is another great resource.

You can search by industry sector. If you know of one company to start with, Hoovers will not only tell you the list of industries the company is currently doing business, it will also show you who their top competitors are in each sector.

If you know of the industry classification codes, there are US government databases you can use to find the list of companies doing business in the industry classification. If you don't know the codes for the type of manufacturers you are interested, you can look for it in Hoovers.com.

Once you have the industry classification code, either SIC(Standard Industrial Classification) and NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) codes.

Then you can use the SIC code at the OSHA, US Labor Dept web site (http://www.osha.gov/pls/imis/sicsearch.html?p_sic=2086&p_search=) to find all the companies that is doing business in the particular SIC.

Or use NAICS at US Census dept web site (http://www.census.gov/epcd/www/naics.html) to find all the companies doing business in the sector.
