they sound pretty much like a bluff to me but i do give them credit though for the past works they've done. it's just at the moment, the UN seems kinda lazy nowadays with Iran and Sudan!

It is, as a whole, a pretty dysfunctional organization - one too often run for the benefit of it's very highly paid employees.

And then there's the fact that the Security Council (which provides darn little security!) doesn't function particularly well either.

The best I can think of to say about the UN is that many of it's humanitarian efforts, especially in the area of healthcare, are successful - and, for the people who benefit from that work, no small thing.

The UN needs it's own standing army with about 5 million men. A real power, with a strong leader.

Then things will get done!

They are slightly better than in the past but still almost entirely ineffective.

They won't go into Sudan unless the are "invited" but Sudan? Yeah, if this were WWII they'd be waiting for Hitler to invite them to tour the concentration camps.

United nations, who are they, the only thing I see united it the bank account before they do individual distribution. This is the biggest joke of mankind and the public keep paying and pumping money it to enable the joke to continue. I would actually like to see something they did that was really constructive, and that exclude collecting money.

The UN has provided the cover of a nonexistent "international community" for American imperialism- again - as it did during the 1991 Gulf War and the 13 years of sanctions against Iraq. It will now serve to bail the US out of the feebleminded Operation Iraqi Freedom (formerly known as Operation Iraqi Liberation - O.I.L.).

The UN is a joke. We should pull out and tell them where to go.

I would like to see the UN send 147,000 troops to Iraq, then our brave Americans could come home. Like they did in Lebanon.
