Thats a loaded question. People have a love hate relationship with Wally World. They love the selection and prices, but they hate to see the local businesses fail. Chicago City Council can't even decide whether they like them or not based on the low wages they pay.

But to answer your question more directly, it all depends on the management and team of the individual store. Retail in general has lost much of its finesse in customer service. The closest Wal-Mart to my home is TERRIBLE! Dirty, unhelpful, hard to find what you're looking for. Their people act like you're an interruption to their important tasks if you ask a question. On the other hand, one 5 miles farther is GREAT! I've even had the experience of an employee walking me clear across the store to an item. The store is clean, friendly, well merchandised. Its night and day between the two. So I say it has to be the people. And I can't fault any business for wanting to have a bigger share of the market and wanting to increase profits. Thats what business is about. In a free market system, the consumer votes. If the store sucks, people don't return. I avoid the closer "bad" store like the plague, but it doesn't mean I don't shop Wal-Mart. Frankly I like Target better.

Wal-Mart has never been really big on "people skills."

You go through checkout and it's about a 50/50 chance whether you will get a clerk who actually smiles and says thank you. Lots of them are too busy talking to the clerk in the next lane.

But I will say that they are good about returned merchandise. They just don't have enough people back there in customer service, though. The wait is ridiculous.
They don't give you the 3rd degree, though. Most of them couldn't care less if you return something, they just throw it in the pile. LOL.

I really, really agree with you...i wont shop there anymore. i would rather pay more somewhere else then deal with them. a few weeks ago i went there to pick up just a couple of things, i spent like 30 minutes gathering what i needed and spent about the same amount of time in line. UGH! they have like 25 lanes to check out in and had only like 5 open. whats the deal!! everyone that works in the one in my town are so rude and they ignore you when you need help, but you can get it anywhere. it just seems walmart is the worst, at least here......

Hell yes....I bought a pizza from there, and there was like paper underneath the cheese and sauce....I find them disgusting now. It just seems like it's about money now for them!
