Advertising plays a part in it, too.
It's a combination of the three.

Unless someone claims that its healthy and fat free or something... its the persons fault. We debated this at my school last year. Watch Super Size Me. It covers a lot of things. But still, its the consumers fault.... or the parents if they are giving their kids that to eat.

It's the consumers fault, they can read, they know what kind of crap is in the food that they are buying. Just like cigarettes, HELLO there's a label telling you the dangers of smoking, they choose to do it, just like the people who buy and eat the junk that is out there, they choose to, nobody is forcing them to buy it or eat it. It's called FREE WILL. If the consumer chooses to put that crap in their body, then its the consumer's fault they are FAT.

I think it is the people's fault that they are so fat but if the food companies stop making fattening food, we wouldn't have the food available to get fat. Overall, it is the people who are at fault. End of story!

This goes back to personal responsibility.
I eat out a lot. 3-4 times a week, for lunch, because it's right across from my office, about 1/4 mile.
I'm not overweight by a long shot. But I choose to eat healthy. Salads, occasional sub with low cal dressing, etc. Personal Responsibility.
I also walk a lot in my job :) I could drive instead, but it's better for me to walk. And cheaper on my gas bill! LOL

I believe it to be the fault of the individual who chooses to live an unhealthy lifestyle. For as many unhealthy meal options, there are as many healthy options as well. Also it is up to parents to educate children on healthy living, we tend to enjoy what we are brought up on, so start to teach young children good habits, and they will have them for life, wether or not food companys are offering good or rubbish to eat. Thats just my opinion, as the mum of a (very healthy!) 15 yr old. Hope that helps!

I agree its definetly the people because even though companies are tempting them, it is their own fault for giving in. Consumers know the risks and they buy it anyways because it tastes good. Of course its going to taste good, companies want people to keep buying their foods so they get $$$$!!!

Is this a real question? Since they haven't yet locked up all (ANY) of the officers of the companies who STILL produce cigarettes, I think you have your answer.

You're absolutely right. The alternatives are there, so it is your fault if you don't put down the burger.
