I don't know about you but I get sick and tired of door to door sales people comming to my home, offering me such things as double glazing (which ive already got) or trying to flog some other service at the door. Usually they call around tea-time or early evening. Although I politely say "No thanks, I'm not intrested"
Im starting to get really pisssed off with these people. I know there only doing there job and have got to make a living, but id prefer that if I want a service or quotes etc then I will look for it myself either in phone book, local newsparers, internet etc.
Feeling that way and fed up with being disturbed night after night, is there anyone like me who thinks door to door sales people should be banned from touting business this way.

They need regualting as do the sales call people on the telephone! I chose to put my own sign up which works, you could try that. Mine reads,

We have double glazing and a conservatory, we are completely happy with our Utility services, Our Moble Phones and Landline are dirt cheap.
We subscribe to our own, selected charities, they also get all our unwanted and resaleable goods for their shop. We have our own private religious beliefs. We have tons of household cleaners and plastic items, probably more than Kleeneze and Bettaware put together!
The lady of the house is rampantly allergic to Avon.
Our dog has an ASBO because of his behaviour towards strangers who annoy him.
So if you are a friend, have an appointment to see us or wish to talk about anything other than selling or hawking for any of the above items/ subjects then WELCOME!
Otherwise Bugger off!

I had to work for one of these companies once, it is the hardest job in the world, I quit straight away,
Yes they should be banned but just imagaine how I felt knocking 80 doors a day, repeating the same thing and getting the same response. It is pathetic I think because not many people would actually buy something from you there and then when you have only just explained what it is. Also, if people actually want something, they go out to the shops and get it! It is nearly impossible to sell someone something at the door and charm doesn't do it either, I'd never do it again. yes it should be banned!

I think that they are a pesky nuisance, but I don't think it should be illegal.

Try putting a "no soliciting" sign on your door. I don't know if this is legally equivalent to banning salesmen from your property but it's worth a shot, it might discourage some from wasting their time (and yours).

I know someone who made a sign that said "We shoot every third salesman. The second one just left!" Hehehehe.

I vaguely remember a town in Ohio banned door-to-door peddlers but the ordinance was challenged in court. Not sure of the result.

I don't think they should be banned, but there should be some regulations. They should only be able to come at reasonable times (not during dinner, not after most people are asleep) and you should be able to get some sort of sign to stick on your door that tells them to go away. If they don't obey the sign, you should be able to have their company fined. It would be sort of like the the "Don't Call List" for telemarketers.

they are regulated along with telesales, but should be shot, or hot oil poured over them, howwever the only one i agree with are the gas and elec as you can change supplier every 6 mth, and they offer u a much better deal, so far i have never had an increase in the last 6 yrs

I've never had anyone come to the door selling stuff. But if anyone would ever come, I wish it would be a door to door sales woman selling lingerie and that she would model the lingerie so I can pick the best out for my girlfriends.

It shouldnt be allowed. If they are selling double glazing they should know what it looks like and if they see you have already not bother knocking at your door!
They really bug me sometimes!!!!

Banning things is not the answer. If you don't want them to come around, put a NO SOLICITORS sign on your door and stop answering it. You do NOT have to answer your door when the bell rings, you know. :)
