I am getting some good answers here! And have been singing the song non-stop! But seriously when you think about it, everyone should be friendly to strangers yes!

Well, of course, when you feel lonely you feel detached from the rest of the human race, so, people feel strange to you, women seem wicked and streets do seem bigger and lonelier when you feel alone.

Because normal is relative. Different regions, and cultures within a region, have different standards of normal, and strange is anything not normal to you. If you are a stranger, then you are in a place with different standards to the ones you are used to.

Because when you're trippin' everything is strange. He might have wanted to lay off the acid.
But, if I had to believe he was serious when writing the song, I would say it was just because what we are unaccustomed to is always perceived as strange until it is familiar.

People are strang to you because were quick to judge. So thats why people are strange when you dont know them. You already have a weird oppion on them.

faces look ugly when you're alone. women seem wicked, when your unwanted, streets are uneven when your down, when your strange, faces come out of the rain, when your strange, no one remembers your name, when your strange.....ok I cannot remember anymore off the top of my head.
