I think some people feel it brings them closer to maintaining the memory of those lost to grieve and grieve again, however hard it may be to do. When something happens that is so tragic and so hard to understand people need lots of different ways to try and resolve how it makes them feel, some do their grieving then leave the issue alone, others need to go on marking it on special dates or in other special ways.
It's not wrong, we all just deal with such immense and difficult tragedy in different ways. Such mass loss makes us all feel we owe those killed a debt, we all chose to repay our debt and mourn them differently, it all goes into the process of healing and moving on. Even after 5 years it is still early days of healing for 9/11, the day was tragic and it marked a big change in world relations which we are still feeling.

People want to understand what happened that day, and maybe see what happened from the people's perspectives who were involved. I watched Flight 93 to see what really happened, on the news sure you hear them tell you what happened. But you don't really see the event. It really is an emotional experience.

What is more disturbing to me is that movie companies are profiting out of the disaster. Yes I know a few of them said they'd give some money to charity/memorial funds. But even if they give 10% of a movie that grossed 200million they'd still profit massively.

Well, I've watched so many Hollywood films where anonymous Arabs are being slaughtered by heroic Americans, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a refreshing change to have it the other way around.
Seriously, no, I'm not going to watch them.

would not pay but by the time it comes on tv the whole world environment may be different. maybe in 50 years time they could be vital films in showing the kids then just how evil humanity is now and hopefully our grand children will have learnt by our mistakes

when i saw the trailer i quite fancied united 93, it didn't seem too propagandist or too pro-anyone, but now they're making the other one too you can see it's just the start of it all. pretty soon we'll be inundated with more of the same 'fear-flicks', getting cheesier and cheesier...
not gonna see either now

I personally want to see both of those. I don't think some people understand how tragic the event actually was. (Generally the ones who weren't personally affect.) I want to understand it more. Maybe if we all understand we can help the people who lost their loved ones. We can mourn with our country opposed to sitting on the sidelines.

I hope all the money made from these movies is going to a worthy cause, and not into the producers pockets!
