It does usually mean a person has a low self-esteem. But it can mean something else. But nine times out of ten it's low self-esteem. Try to build up the others self-esteem. Reassure this person that they are the only one or what the problem is.

Jealousy has nothing to do with low self-esteem. The jealous person is well esteemed :o) and knows they want you for themself. To me a justified time of jealousy is when you're committed to each other and someone else is competing for you and you show an interest. It's natural!
Show the jealous person you're committed and it shouldn't happen often.

Girl...some people can be jealous in a good way or in a bad way. For example your man might get a Lil jealous when he catches someone taking a peek at you (that's cute) but if the guy or girl who ever it is being a total jerk about it without anything being your fault then that's obsessive and that one person might really have problems so just try to avoid it and check those Lil things next time.

jealousy and envy are emotions that are very close to eachother. You could be jealous or envious just because you want what the other person has. It does not always require low self esteem.

It depends upon the situation. It is okay to be jealous over something you cherish. It isn't okay if that jealousy makes you try to imprison that individual.
It's normal to feel jealous if the one you love and give yourself to takes it for granted and flaunts and flirts with another without regard to your feelings.
If you become jealous because of what someone else has and begrudge them their happiness then this is indicitive of your own insecurity and low-esteem.

Alot of times jealousy steems from low self esteem and trust issues. I honestly don't know anyone that doesn't have some form of jealousy in them though but it's the depth of jealousy which is often problems in relationships.

That could be the case sometimes. Other times someone just simply envies another person. Like they envy them but don't seriously hate them.
Jealously, apparently, is a lot more complicated than I had figured. I am really having a hard time coming up with a decent answer.

I think that if some one is jealous, they are insecure about the relationship, dont really know why, could be because of a bad past experience, or it could be because of a personal thing about their self.

If you are jealous in every relationship then yes, you probably have low self esteem.
But, if you are finding yourself jealous when you normally are not then something is wrong with the relationship. That gut feeling thing is one of your best defenses.
