I like http://www.knitty.com for trendy patterns. They have things for all skill levels, so the site can grow with you as you improve. And don't be afraid to tackle some "advanced" patterns. If you can knit and purl, you'll be just fine!

I have been knitting only for about 3 years. I use www.lionbrand.com all the time for knitting patterns. Also, they are free!! There are really great patterns for scarves, hats, and blankets. I hope you find what you are looking for.
