my girlfriend left me after 8 years to "find herself". She says she needs independance and needs to learn to look after herself and make decisions for herself. She feels as though she doesnt know who she is anymore and needs to be happy in herself to be happy in the relationship. She assures me there is no one else and i believe her and this is really about her. She says she cant imagine been with anyone else but needs time away from the relationship. We still see each other once a week and she says each time she sees me she feels better about a future to our relationship but just wont committ to it right now. She wants to go overseas on a holiday with her friends early next year and says she cant be with me before that. We just bought a house together and she wants to keep that with me for now but just isnt ready to live there with me yet. Does this sound reasonable or not? I feel i can trust her 100% and i want to support her through this and show her I am a great guy for her.

Wow what a question.. from what i read i think your g/f could find herself while still in a relationship with you after all she spent 8 years with you. I dont think it is fair of her to accept you to wait for her to find herself after all how long will it take to find herself?? have you thought about that? i think you should be supportive if she truly wants to find herself but i also think that you as a person should go out and see what is out there after an 8 year relationship. to me it sounds like shes breakin up with you and doesnt want you to be with anyone else while she " finds herself", im sure my answer wont be the best but comeing from a grls point of view and being in a commited relationship for 10 years almost 11, if my man said he needed to find himself i would be finding someone else.

I dont think she wants to continue a relationship......it seems like after 8 years maybe you arent what shes lookign for. Ask her why shes doing this to you. She'll come around.
