i was running aol, limewire, and windows media player ..i was listening to music and opened a new song when the screen went blank, then rebooted but wouldnt reboot all the way..it went to an error screen and i cant get it to reboot even with the restore disk..there was no sounds or anything...just blank screen then blue screen with error message..

Please provide us some details like:
- Operting System (Win98, Me, XP etc)
- Are you protected (Service Packs, Firewall, Antivirus)
The operations that you were performing were safe, so I guess there are two problems you might have:
- hardware failure (bad memory or damaged hard disk)
- you have been attacked by a virus
Try the one or more of the following:
- go into your BIOS (by pressing DEL or F2 when your computer boots) ant look up for your harddrive. Is it recognized?
-take your Windows CD and
--try to repair your Windows
--or try to reinstall Windows
-take an anti virus boot disk and use it
One friend of mine had a very serious problem with a virus and he used a self-booting antivirus CD from bitdefender. This way he cleaned up his hard drive (he had a boot sector virus and another virus .. Win32Jeefo as far as I can remember). Then he reinstalled Windows.
You can also unplug your hard rive and take it to another computer to see if it is recognized and if you can access your files.
Give me a sign. I'm really worried about your problem.
