When I get a cold, I usually drink lots of water and juices, and try to rest at least 8 hours every night. If you feel like resting during the day, take a nap. If you are not taking multiple vitamins, and not eating a healthy diet, you should start. I usually take Nyquil at night and DayCare during the day to feel better, but don't take these for more than about 10 days. Mainly fluids, rest, Vitamins and perhaps some Tylenol will help. I also take Vit. C daily to help prevent colds. I usually only get 1 or 2 colds a year with this routine.

⺠Here is the bad news: The so called "cold virus" is not a single virus. In fact, it changes by mutating so much that we just call the general category of such viruses by that name.
The truth is there is NO cure for the cold. No anti-biotic or home made remedy would actually get rid of it (though some may ease your feelings and help get through with it).
The cold virus is as hard to kill as the AIDS causing HIV virus!
⺠The good news: Unlike the HIV virus, most common cold viruses rarely cause critical damage to humans. This is because our body can develop mechanisms to fight it off. So no matter what you take or do, at the end it is the body that fights it back not the stuff you take in.
So the best thing you can do is take care of the body as not to give it more things to worry about (such as catching even more kinds of bacteria and viruses or spending energy on maintaining body temperature). Rest, follow good hygiene and eat a nutritious and balanced diet.
Get well soon!

Wrong mixture. It is honey, lemon and whiskey. Cough medicines have a high content of alcohol in them.
7 days will usually get rid of the sniffles. There is no cure, just things to make you feel better. Drink PLENTY of fluids.Pops

Here is the one and only thing that can really hurry a cold out of your system: drink a lot (and I mean 8-10 large glasses a day minimum) of water. It will literally flush the cold out of your body.

Hot toddy is good... That is what my mom made for us, as children. Also you can mix... V-8 with crushed garlic, cayenne pepper(not too much) . My dad made that for me, and it sure helped. The "hot toddy" is made with whiskey, water and honey. You have to warm it up some, to kinda soften the honey. It helps alot. One or two spoons should do it, at a time..

I like a combination of echinacea tea and zinc lozenges. It seems to work for me but controlled clinical studies generally do not show much benefit.
You should not use echinacea if you have MS or any autoimmune condition.
