The parenting class I took said it is best to do what the father is, if the father is circumcised then they should and if he isn't then don't. The boy will feel comfortable when father and him are potty training and he sees they are the same. Myself, I had my boy circumcised and it only took them like 5 min to do the actual procedure and he barely cried. I nursed him right after and he was just fine, plus it healed in like 3 days. You have to think about there future and what you think would be best for him when he understands the difference. Eventually its a physiological thing overall and when he gets older how will he fill not circumcised, being with women and all. So think about everything thing not just a few minutes of pain, but there over all well being for the rest of there life.

not to be gross or anything but when your child is older and has to be taken care of down there by nurse aids and be not circumsized he will have issues. They are supposed to roll the skin back and clean it real good but they don't. I've seen infected uncircumsized penis that looked really sore.

I am for circumsized penises, less work and less time.

Circumsized is better. I know of an older man who had a great deal of trouble with his penis because it was uncircumsized, and he wasn't always able to keep it clean enough. It's a lot of fussy work, pulling back the foreskin and cleaning inside there. You would have to do that for the baby until he is old enough to do it for himself.

NO CIRCUMCISION! The AAP doesn't recommend it. Check out the sites below; there are a ton more if you do a search, all advising not to. There are no health benefits to a circumcision, babies do feel the tremendous amount of pain that go along with circumcisions, and circumcisions kill nerve endings, causing the boy to experience less sexual pleasure when he gets older. It's similar to the practice of clitorectomies that still take place in many 3rd world countries. It's not legal here, but somehow circumcisions still are. Knowing how much it hurts me to hear my children cry, I couldn't imagine intentionally inflicting that sort of pain on them.

You will never ever get consensus on this, medical or otherwise. I say go with circumsized because its more common. (No one wants to have to go around explaining their private parts to other people, esp. during intimate moments.)

The International AIDS conference in August, held in Toronto, heard the call to circumcise males in order to help stop the spread of HIV. Circumcise your son and possibly help protect him from future infections.
