I am not pro or anti Bush because I like to stay neutral but everyday I am inundated with messages from anti Bush people.I am all for freedom of speech but is this the right thing to do? I constantly hear negative things about him on the news, computer, and in social atmospheres. Here is my question (s)..When "we"(Americans) talk negatively about our President doesn't that give our enemies the upper hand? I mean they (enemies) hate us and think we are idiots and it seems like we are helping promote this idea if we constantly spread hate about our own president? My other concern is that we try to teach children to have respect for others so what kind of example are we setting by bashing and disrespecting our own president? Whether he is right or wrong, shouldn't we respect him and his position? Please, if I am wrong, set me straight.

I believe you are so right. I too, am neither pro nor anti-Bush.

Although our government is and forever will be filled with imperfections, it is still one of the best places in the world to be.

When you walk into a courtroom and a judge enters, the bailiff will say, "all rise". This is done out of respect, because that judge has earned the right to represent that court. Not everyone in that courtroom will agree with that judge's decision, but his decision will stand.

President Bush has earned the right to represent our country. Although we don't all agree on all of the decisions this administration has made, we still owe him that "all rise". He is only one man, acting as a spokesperson for our entire government. When he is disrespected by US citizens, so is our government.

OBL has "succeeded" in part. He has "helped" divide the country. Our own politicians have succeeded more than anyone else.

I wrote to another question, that he must be celebrating with champagne, unless, he is suffering from hysterical laughter.

While our Congress is debating how to interpret the Geneva Accord, government agents are refusing to interrogate prisoners, for fear of prosecution and imprisonment.

Unfortunately, people believe everything on the Internet, and have no idea who publishes it.
What a propaganda tool for the enemy.

Bashing is our freedom. When people speak of "Treason", and "Assassination", it's a little too much. Those are serious charges without proof, and suggestions that are in themselves treasonous.
IMHO!

I firmly believe that we may see another "9/11"
AlQueda has already threatened the "GULF" as the next target. On the news several times, translated.
And from where one may ask?
Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico? Hmmmmmmm!
All friends of our enemies.

I think this is all part of being an American; being able to speak your mind even if it's against the leadership and even the president. There are so many countries in the world that if people say something bad about the government they are never seen or heard from again, and many other countries where they are simply imprisoned for it.

I think that people should be able to speak their mind, even about the president. There have been good ones, and there have been aweful ones. There are also many opinions and some people like Bush and some don't.

If you want the negative speech about the president to stop, we would have to loose our rights to free speech. To me that would be the greater evil. I may not agree with something you think and say, but I would defend your right to think and speak.

Also, I don't think it is necessarily disrespectful to state an opinion of someone. After all truth is truth and people like Hitler for instance deserve what is said about them, and to call him a murderer wouldn't be disrespectful but truthful.

As far as other countries hating us that is mostly probably jealousy that we have more freedoms and rights than they do.

This is a part of the American process. We debate and argue about what we believe is right or wrong.

Do I wish we had more respect for the office? Absolutely. But we have had difficulties with that for quite some time now. This president bashing stuff is nothing new.

Frankly, I don't care what a terrorist thinks. They're moral, ethical, intellectual, social and psychological constructs are so screwed up anyway that there's no image we could possibly portray to them that would be helpful. So screw 'em. I'm not going to interrupt my process for a moment on account of them.

Well most people dont like bush because they feel he is being very very well, bush, lol. He is disagreed on by over 50% of americans and just cause im 13 doesn't mean i dont have a political view. Mainly he is frowned upon because he is pro-war and many people are turning anti-war due to the deaths, etc. but if bush gets impeached i feel a democratic canidate will screw america up by pulling us out of the war and leaving us open to terror attacks, (thank God kerry wasnt elected that gold digger.. always marrying women who have lots of money to help his cause.

Our country is founded upon the freedom to constructively criticize and amend the government. This freedom of speech is our way of life, and if we were to silence anti-bush people, (or pro-bush people for that matter) then the enemy has truly succeeded in disrupting our way of life.
However, you are absolutely right about hating the president. Democracy is based on CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM of the government, and a bunch of liberal cry-babies saying how much they hate Bush solves nothing.
I support the war in Iraq, and I am glad that people are allowed to protest it. This is proof that our government is at least still somewhat just and free. Also, it truly shows how noble our troops are when they are willing to die to defend another's right to hate their actions and the ideals they risk their lives for every day.

its shows the enemy, we have no idea what the hell is going on. This shows that america CONTROLS its own people. For good bad or worse. Anything we do, protest, speaking out, they LET us do.

And it strengthens our position over the enemy. Everyone but AMericans see that our government keeps us stupid.

Its a shame we lavish in our own stupidity.

About the president

what we should be recognizing as that there was one before him and there will be one after and wars will still go on.

If you read Roberts rule of Order you realize just how much power the president truly has over the house...

He has never been the problem.

Did you have these same feelings during the Clinton Administration when conservatives bad mouthed the President of the United States every day until he was out of office.

Did that bother you...or were you neutral....

Absolutley America is doing the right thing. Only because of the gutless Jimmy Carter and the derelict of duty Clinton is America confused about what 'peace' is about. Peace in the world will not be achieved when there is an absence of conflict, rather when right is being exercised and wrong is defeated. Beheadings, female oppression, etc. are not 'right'.
